For me it is at the intersection of: revelation and grace
Revelation in who God is.
And the grace the He shows to me

For me, great worship is a 24/7 thing. It's understanding that in the midst of a fallen world God is constantly lifting me up and others around me. That's why my arms go up during a Chris Tomlin ballad or why I drop to my knees during a David Crowder anthemn. It's not that I'm showing off, it's that I know despite all my best efforts to "do life" God is directing me even when I don't feel like He is or I'm oblivious to His grace at work in the moment.

I seem to hear from others and make my own positive "remarks" about God's amazing presence when at least two things happen in our worship services...

1. We create a safe environment for God's kids to actually focus on and worship the Father
2. In that environment we are able to experience what I like to call an "absence of evil" in our lives.

Even a brief moment in the absence of evil can change our perspective, heal our souls and cause our faith to swell. In "Christianese" we call it being in one accord, seeing the Spirit move, lost in the flow etc. For the unchurched, rechurched or dechurched... it's just, well, awesome to feel what we were supposed to feel before sin entered our lives.

So I guess worship becomes remarkable when we worship leaders can help remove distractions, enable the message that God has for our time together and find ourselves all changed by the experience, which He can make happen every time we try, as long as we see it through His eyes ;)

Billy-

Liking this series already. For me worship that is remarkable is completely God centered. This is a lot more difficult than it sounds. The times I remember, as a leader, are the ones when the music and everything else fades away to a time of focusing on God. Obviously there are a lot of things involved to make it come to that place. But the bottom line for me is a time centered around God.
